And now for the stream of consciousness post:
I've recently found myself enamored of a podcast called Craftypod. If you've never heard of it you can get it from itunes or right at the source www.craftypod.com
I finally finished all my Christmas presents. Just in the nick of time too...(bad pun intended)
I've also managed to convince myself that joining facebook was a good thing. I basically a hermit so I'm amazed that so many people have friended me.
I've discovered that Christmas lights are a real pain in the *** Does it take some sort of technical genius to work out how to get a strand relit or what?!
From the craftypod podcast I learned of a site called SpoonFlower that lets you design and print your own custom fabric. Not sure when I'll be using it, but I had to sign up.
More masks are in the works, although admittedly I'm slower than I should be in making them.
My vacation to Toronto is coming up soon and I'm a nervous wreck thinking about the traffic. I've never been there so driving is going to be stressful. I still have maps to make. Thank you google maps!
I've also been working on setting up another blog site. I don't know why really as it's not like I'm all that speedy updating this one, but I've got a bunch of space on my server so I figure I may as well use it, eh?
next time....Christmas the aftermath...

2nd Costume
In an earlier post I mentioned a second costume that I wore for this years Renaissance Festival. Here it is!
The second image is the mask that was worn with this costume.
This Year's Costume
Well, I've had a great Renaissance festival season. I had 2 primary outfits that I alternated wearing each weekend and it's possible that I'm even in the background of a movie that was being filmed there. This image is the my black and gold costume. The mask is something I made myself. The feathers on my head were purchased at the fair. The base skirt was found on ebay, the coin scarf came from a convention, and the beaded scarf (at some point I'll be posting pictures of that separately) was found at a thrift store.

Introducing "The Mask Gallery"
by popular demand I've now created a site strictly for the masks I make. Anyone wishing to purchase a mask can now view the site and make a request. At the moment there is only one mask for sale but I hope to change that soon. Without furthur ado, the new site address is themaskgallery.vixpi.com

Purse Makeover
I've been experimenting with a number of projects recently and thought it was about time that I posted one. This is an example of a purse makeover I did recently. The left side of the image is obviously before and the right side is the after.

A New Mask
I haven't quite decided if I completely finished with this one yet, but I'm posting it anyway. I may or may not be adding some paint detailing around the eyes. Until then, I'd love to get some feedback!
This is the first mask that I made solely with the intention to sell. I haven't decided exactly what the price tag will be though. (Feel free to email me with offers!)
In terms of it's details: the beads that drape from the top of the mask can actually be removed or replaced with other dangles via convenient little hooks on the back. I quite liked them myself but I wanted this mask to be versatile.

Have we seen the end yet?

More Ren Faire Flashbacks
It occurred to me that I never posted the collage I did for my sister featuring photos of the her and the Renaissance Festival. As I'm now in the process of working on one for myself, I think it's a good time to post hers. This collage was printed onto and 8x8 ceramic tile by a friend of mine (www.reflectedmoments.com) to commemorate the occasion.

Mask me - Death Eater Style
As I'm completely enamored with my mask making, I offered to make a Death Eater mask for a friend for Christmas. It took quite a while and I just finished the distressing about 20 minutes ago, but I couldn't wait to show it off! This mask is based off of the official HP art for the Bellatrix Lestrange mask.
